Baseball Recap: Springfield's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Springfield was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Belleville East on Thursday. Springfield never let Belleville East get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The win was some much needed relief for Springfield as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Springfield gave Caiden Bietsch the start and clearly made the right call: he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Bietsch has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Springfield's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Wade Snyder, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave Snyder a new career-high.

The win got Springfield back to even at 4-4. As for Belleville East, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springfield will challenge Lincoln at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Springfield are facing the Railsplitters at the right time seeing as the Railsplitters are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Belleville East, they will face off against Ladue Horton Watkins at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
