Baseball Game Preview: Midtown Knights vs. Pace Academy Knights

For the second straight game, Midtown will face off against Pace Academy. Midtown will welcome Pace Academy at 5:55 p.m. on Wednesday. Midtown is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

Midtown's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Monday's struggle, when Pace Academy hitters got past them. Midtown lost 12-2 to Pace Academy on Monday. Midtown's defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

For Pace Academy's part, Charles Smith tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits.

At the plate, Dylan Nelson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Quinn Culpepper was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Pace Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Midtown only posted an OBP of .409.

The victory made it two in a row for Pace Academy and bumps their season record up to 14-10. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Midtown, their loss dropped their record down to 16-6.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Midtown has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Pace Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
