Softball Recap: Gothenburg's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gering, Gothenburg was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 21-3 margin over the Hershey Panthers. With that win, the Swedes brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

Paislee Erickson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Madilyn McNally was a standout: she went 4-for-6 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lexus Erickson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

Gothenburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They are 9-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory snapped Gothenburg's losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 9-12 record. As for Hershey, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

As of now, neither Gothenburg nor Hershey have any future games scheduled.
