Soccer Recap: Willows Drops Season-High Score on Williams

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Willows). They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Williams Yellowjackets on Monday, sneaking past 4-3. The score was all tied up 2-2 at the break, but the Honkers were the better team in the second half.

They hit Williams with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Gabriela Cano (2), Damaris Martinez, and Michelle Palacios.

The victory made it two in a row for Willows and bumps their season record up to 4-13-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-10-2 Williams (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 32.7% over those games). As for Williams, they dropped their record down to 1-10-2 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Willows will venture away from home to face off against Winters at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Winters knows how to get goals on the board -- the team has finished with four goals or more in their past nine matches -- so hopefully Willows likes a good challenge. As for Williams, they will face off against Pierce at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
