Softball Recap: Seneca Comes Up Short

Seneca had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 2-8 to make it eight. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cassville Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on September 11th.

Abby Jamros spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 16 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 6 strikeouts per game.

As for Cassville, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games.

On Cassville's side, not much got past Lili Naugle, who gave up just a hit and racked up 18 Ks to keep Seneca off the board.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Stoufer, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Coming up, Seneca will head out on the road to face off against Aurora at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cassville, they will face off against Monett at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
