Basketball Recap: Smethport Comes Up Short

Smethport lost against Johnsonburg back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Smethport Hubbers fell 50-40 to the Johnsonburg Rams. The Hubbers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Smethport still got an impressive performance from Madelyn McKean, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave McKean a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Danaka Neff, who posted five points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Smethport smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Smethport's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Johnsonburg, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-13.

Smethport wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 58-38 loss against Otto-Eldred on the 5th. Johnsonburg has also already played their next game (against Ridgway), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
