Basketball Recap: Aislin Tamez Torres' Big Game Can't Quite Lead La Salle over St. Monica

La Salle was the 61-18 winner over St. Monica when they last played one another back in January of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. The La Salle Lancers took a 60-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Monica Mariners.

La Salle lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Aislin Tamez Torres, who went 5 of 6 on her way to 13 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Casey Higgins, who went 5 for 7 en route to 14 points.

Even though they lost, La Salle was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Monica only posted nine assists.

St. Monica was led to victory by Bailey Prewitt and Kim Macias. Prewitt went 8 of 13 on her way to 19 points and five boards, while Macias went 7 for 14 en route to 19 points and three steals. What's more, Macias also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Sydney Ghobrial was another key player, putting up 12 points.

The loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 16-3. As for St. Monica, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 16-4 record.

La Salle has already played their next match, a 44-41 defeat against Bishop Montgomery on the 20th. As for St. Monica, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-47 win against South on the 18th.
