Recap: San Juan Spartans vs. Esparto Spartans

This season hasn't been kind to the San Juan Spartans, who are still winless after their tenth game. They fell 49-40 to Esparto on Friday. That's two games in a row now that San Juan has lost by exactly nine points.

Esparto's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Khalia Moore, who scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Moore has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jeriann Moore, who scored 15 points.

San Juan bumped their record down to 0-10 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.4 points per game. As for Esparto, their win ended a 12-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. San Juan will take on Rio Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Esparto, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Vacaville Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
