Soccer Game Preview: Corona del Mar vs. Los Alamitos

Corona del Mar is 0-10 against Los Alamitos since January of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Corona del Mar Sea Kings will take on the Los Alamitos Griffins at 5:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.

Corona del Mar is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 5-2 margin over Saint Joseph. The result was nothing new for the Sea Kings, who have now won 11 games by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Los Alamitos entered their tilt with Aliso Niguel on Wednesday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Their defense stepped up to hand the Wolverines a 5-0 shutout. Given the Griffins' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Wolverines are ranked 89th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Los Alamitos hit Aliso Niguel with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Victoria Bloch (2), Sofia Bugarin, Baylee Fernley, and Cameron Ainslie.

Los Alamitos' victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those six matches. As for Corona del Mar, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-6.

Corona del Mar might still be hurting after the 4-0 loss they got from Los Alamitos in their previous matchup back in January. Can Corona del Mar avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
