Softball Recap: Callaway's Run of Five Straight Wins Now Over

Callaway dropped down to 8-11 on Monday, ending the team's five-game streak of wins. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Troup County Tigers. The Cavaliers were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the five games prior), but the Tigers' pitchers proved too tough.

As for Troup County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-14. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.

For Troup County's part, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaitlyn Smalley, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Smalley has hit this season. Gracie Baker was another, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Callaway will venture away from home to challenge Jackson at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Troup County, they will head out to take on Trinity Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
