Stratford was handed a three-set loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They won by a set and slipped past the Lake Creek Lions 3-2. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lions, too.

Lake Creek lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Louisa Ertischek, who had 14 digs and three aces. She has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last four times she's played. Taylor Woods also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.

Stratford's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Lake Creek, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.

Stratford will welcome Seven Lakes at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lake Creek, they have already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Fulshear on the 23rd.
