Softball Recap: Gallup Comes Up Short

Gallup extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 11-10. They took a 17-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bloomfield Bobcats. The Bengals were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bobcats earlier this season, when they won 18-0.

Gallup got a massive performance out of Scottlynn Torres, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Jaylah Greene, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, two RBI, and one double.

As for Bloomfield, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-15. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games.

On Bloomfield's side, Cassidy Babcock was excellent, going 3-for-5 with one home run, seven RBI, and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases Babcock has posted since back in March of 2025. Harley Rightmire was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Gallup will head out to take on Miyamura at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bengals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for Bloomfield, they will be playing at home against Aztec at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
