Recap: Madera South Stallions vs. Roosevelt Rough Riders
The Madera South Stallions suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were dealt a 70-36 loss at the hands of Roosevelt. Madera South has struggled against Roosevelt recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Stallions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was MAYRILYN HERNANDEZ, who scored seven points. HERNANDEZ continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of MAYRILIN VASQUEZ, who scored eight points.
Leading Roosevelt to victory were Nyleigh Gregory and Taylor Sutherland. Gregory scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, while Sutherland dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Gregory pulled down eight or more rebounds. Tatiana Ballinger was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with 16 rebounds.
Madera South's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-11. As for Roosevelt, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madera South's homestand continues as they prepare to take on McLane at 5:30 p.m. on January 16th. Roosevelt will take on Hoover at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
