Basketball Game Preview: Southwest SD Raiders vs. Steele Canyon Cougars

Southwest SD is 0-4 against Steele Canyon since January of 2016 but things could change on Wednesday. The two teams will face off at 1:30 p.m. without much rest, having both just played. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Southwest SD's tournament run continued when they took on West Hills on Tuesday. The Raiders took a 43-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolf Pack.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jazlyn Martinez, who posted seven points in addition to six steals and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Pilar Carrera, who earned 19 points.

Meanwhile, Steele Canyon was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 33-28 to Mira Mesa.

Southwest SD's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Steele Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Southwest SD took a serious blow against Steele Canyon when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 67-7. Thankfully for the Raiders, Anaya Lundgren (who dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
