Meanwhile, Ashland-Greenwood sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over Wayne on Thursday.
Sofia Dill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ellie Milburn, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Egger, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
Northwest's victory bumped their record up to 24-2. As for Ashland-Greenwood, their win bumped their record up to 17-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Northwest has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ashland-Greenwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
