Softball Recap: Legacy Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Legacy dropped to 11-10 on Tuesday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 12-2 to the Horizon Hawks. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Lightning couldn't push the score so high this time.

Megan Sandusky was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

As for Horizon, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

On Horizon's side, Kaiya Barela was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Barela has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in September.

In other batting news, Ava Howard was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. Bryanna Fontes was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Legacy is set to take on their familiar foe Monarch at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Horizon will challenge rival Silver Creek at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
