Soccer Recap: Santa Barbara Takes a Loss

Santa Barbara lost against San Marcos back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Santa Barbara Dons fell 3-1 to the San Marcos Royals. While losing is never fun, the Dons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 611th, while the Royals are ranked 238th).

Santa Barbara has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6-2 record this season. As for San Marcos, their record now sits at 6-3-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santa Barbara will square off against Dos Pueblos at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Dos Pueblos' last six matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for San Marcos, they will face off against Oxnard at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Oxnard's defense has only allowed 0.4 goals per game this season, so San Marcos' offense will have their work cut out for them.
