Recap: Burney Raiders vs. Quincy Trojans
The Burney Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Quincy on the road and fell 63-27. Burney was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-12.
Despite the loss, Burney saw an underclassman step up: Natalia Maldonado scored seven points along with four steals. Maldonado has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Metzger, who scored four points along with two steals.
Quincy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hana Hostetter led the charge by scoring 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatum Hughes, who scored 12 points.
Burney's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Quincy, they pushed their record up to 17-4 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Burney will take on Redding Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Quincy, they will head out on the road to face off against Chester at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
