Basketball Recap: Thacher Comes Up Short

Thacher lost against St. Bonaventure back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Thacher Toads were dealt a 78-22 loss at the hands of the St. Bonaventure Seraphs. The match marked the Toads' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

St. Bonaventure got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sarah Cosio out in front who went 9 for 15 on her way to 21 points in addition to eight assists and six steals. Cosio is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 18 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Rico, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards.

Thacher's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-2. As for St. Bonaventure, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thacher will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Foothill Tech at 5:30 p.m. on January 9, 2025. As for St. Bonaventure, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Newbury Park at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Bonaventure is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.7 points per game this season.
