Baseball Game Preview: Deer Lakes Lancers vs. Yough Cougars

For the second straight game, Deer Lakes will face off against Yough. The Lancers will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Deer Lakes' favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Yough has been banged up by 11 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Deer Lakes' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Yough 2-0. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Not much got past Anthony Smith, who gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Yough off the board. Smith also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Deer Lakes is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Deer Lakes saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was A.J. Reiher, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Deer Lakes now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Yough, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-15.
