Basketball Recap: Corning Takes a Loss

Corning was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They took a 37-22 bruising from the Las Plumas Thunderbirds. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1126th, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 464th).

Krystiana Copple was the offensive standout of the contest as she posted seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Liliana Carrillo, who put up seven points.

Corning's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Las Plumas, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Corning Cardinals face off against the Live Oak Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Corning is facing Live Oak at the right time seeing as Live Oak is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Las Plumas, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Orland at 7:30 p.m. Orland will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Las Plumas surely won't give up without a fight.
