Basketball Game Preview: Sunny Hills Lancers vs. Esperanza Aztecs

Sunny Hills is 0-4 against Esperanza since December of 2014 but things could change on Tuesday. The Sunny Hills Lancers are taking a road trip to challenge the Esperanza Aztecs at 5:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Sunny Hills is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Friday. They were dealt a 59-28 defeat at the hands of Crean Lutheran. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 346th, while the Saints are ranked 36th).

Despite the loss, Sunny Hills saw an underclassman step up: freshman Allie Sexton posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rianna Jones, who earned seven points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Esperanza unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 47-37 to El Dorado.

Sunny Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Esperanza, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-10.

Sunny Hills took a serious blow against Esperanza in their previous meeting back in January, falling 66-29. Can Sunny Hills avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
