Basketball Game Preview: Mauldin Mavericks vs. Lexington Wildcats

The Mauldin Mavericks and the Lexington Wildcats will compete for holiday cheer at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Mauldin sitting on three straight victories and Lexington on ten.

Mauldin saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 56-28 win over Cross Creek. The Mavericks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, Lexington made off with a 37-36 victory over Richland Northeast. The 37-point effort marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Lexington's win came from a few key players Mauldin will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Logan Murillo, who posted seven points. Sydni Anderson was another key player, putting up six points and 11 boards.

Lexington's win bumped their record up to 10-0. As for Mauldin, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.

Mauldin came out on top in a nail-biter against Lexington in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, sneaking past 46-43. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Wildcats' Lindsay Garner, who shot 64% from the field to rack up 18 points and eight rebounds.
