Softball Recap: Irwin County's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Irwin County came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Clinch County Panthers. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Indians also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Brooklyn Gordon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brynlee Brown was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in October of 2024.

Irwin County's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Clinch County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-3 record this season.

Irwin County will venture away from home to face off against Valdosta at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Clinch County, they will challenge Fitzgerald at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
