Football Game Preview: Seymour Wildcats vs. Naugatuck Greyhounds

The Seymour Wildcats will face off against the Naugatuck Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Seymour will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

On Saturday, Seymour earned a 26-15 win over Kennedy.

Seymour's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Cortello, who threw for 165 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 passes, and also rushed for 42 yards. Another rusher making a difference was Connor Shea, who rushed for 124 yards.

Meanwhile, Naugatuck won a contest that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Kennedy 35-34.

Naugatuck's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Seymour, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Seymour has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 242.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Naugatuck struggles in that department as they've been averaging 224.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Seymour took a serious blow against Naugatuck in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 35-0. Thankfully for the Wildcats, Ryan Deitelbaum (who rushed for 151 yards and a pair of TDs on only 11 carries, and also picked up 49 receiving yards and one score) won't be suiting up this time.
