Recap: Cochranton Cardinals vs. Maplewood Tigers
The Cochranton Cardinals lost against the Maplewood Tigers back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Cochranton took a 36-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Maplewood. Cochranton has not had much luck with Maplewood recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Cochranton's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Shelby Mcbryar, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds, and Marley Rodax who scored nine points along with seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Mcbryar pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Cochranton's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-8. As for Maplewood, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cochranton on the road again on Monday and play against Youngsville at 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Youngsville is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Maplewood, they will head out on the road to face off against Hickory at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hickory will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 465th, while Maplewood is ranked 230th).
