Meanwhile, Verdugo Hills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 50-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Canyon.

Central City Value will have to keep a close watch on Kayla Pimentel and Nicole Olivera, a pair of players who had a big impact on Verdugo Hills' prior game. Pimentel dropped a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Olivera put up 15 points and three steals. That was a full 37.5% of Verdugo Hills' points, marking the third time in a row Olivera has scored more than a third of the team's points.

Central City Value's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Verdugo Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
