Football Recap: Champlin Park Wins High-Profile Match Against Andover

Champlin Park faced Andover in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Rebels managed a 28-24 win over the Huskies. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but the Rebels were the better team in the second half.

When it comes to explaining why Andover lost, don't look at Joseph Mapson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 107 yards and two scores, and also threw for 194 yards and one touchdown. Mapson's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 107 rushing yards dating back to last season. Collin Gravink also helped out as he racked up 133 rushing yards.

Champlin Park has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. As for Andover, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Champlin Park will face off against Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Andover, they will host Coon Rapids at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
