Football Recap: Normal University Starts off Right with Win over Manual

Normal University had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Manual Rams 71-22. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 50-22.

Normal University's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cade Cunningham, who picked up 202 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 46 yards. Rhett Lynch was another key back, gaining 138 total yards and four touchdowns.

Normal University didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Blake Schlipf and Darieus Perry.

Looking ahead, Normal University will look to takes advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Bloomington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Manual, they will venture away from home to challenge Richwoods at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The match will give the Rams their first taste of in-conference action this season.
