Basketball Recap: Ferndale Now 5-1 over Last Six Games

If Conemaugh Valley wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Ferndale, they should've done a better job of containing Deajah Chatman. The Ferndale Yellow Jackets snuck past the Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays with a 48-42 victory on Saturday thanks in part to Chatman, who went 6 of 15 en route to 25 points along with six rebounds and three steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.

Conemaugh Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madison McCleester, who posted 11 points. That's the most points McCleester has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Illy Darcangelo, who had 12 points and eight rebounds.

Ferndale is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Conemaugh Valley, their record now sits at 1-9.

Ferndale will head out to face off against Johnstown Christian at 5:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. As for Conemaugh Valley, they will host United at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
