Baseball Recap: Newfane Panthers vs. Medina Mustangs

Newfane had lost five straight on the road, but on Sunday they dropped down to 2-15 to make it six. They came up short against the Medina Mustangs, falling 23-0. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, with their most recent defeat being a 6-0 loss last Wednesday.

As for Medina, their record is now 16-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.

For Medina's part, Vinny Gray made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Gray has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other pitching news, Mason Berry looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Medina got a massive performance out of Carlos Doval, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Newfane does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Medina, they will be playing at home against Fredonia at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hillbillies will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight.
