Softball Recap: Ord Find Success

Ord never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Ponca on Saturday. They blew past the Indians 14-8. The Chanticleers not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since September 21, 2024 (when they won 12-2).

Alexandra Jeffres was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off four hits. Jeffres was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Ord let Elle Jess and Addison Stethem run wild. Jess went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Stethem went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Jess a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Payton Whited, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Ord was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ponca only posted a batting average of .185.

Ord's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Ponca, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Ord has already played their next matchup, a 14-3 defeat against Pierce on the 23rd. As for Ponca, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 12-5 loss against Arlington on the 23rd.
