Basketball Recap: Southwest EC Comes Up Short

Southwest EC lost against Brawley back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Southwest EC Eagles were dealt a 65-32 loss at the hands of the Brawley Wildcats.

Bre Montano was a one-woman wrecking crew for Brawley as she posted 22 points and eight boards. Another player making a difference was Kayleen Pacheco, who earned 13 points.

Southwest EC has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Brawley, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 9-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southwest EC will challenge Holtville at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Holtville has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Brawley, they will square off against Calipatria at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Brawley is facing Calipatria at the right time seeing as Calipatria is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
