Volleyball Recap: Fairland Comes Up Short

Fairland was the 2-0 winner over Waverly when they last played one another back in August of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Dragons took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers on Saturday. The Dragons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fairland was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Waverly work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-14.

Lola Donahue paced Fairland's offense, picking up four kills. Donahue got some help from Alli Thomas and her nine assists. Donahue was also a major player on defense: she and she shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with three each.

Waverly was led to victory by Mallory Roberts and Hadley Ramsey. Roberts had 12 assists and eight digs, while Ramsey had eight digs and one assist. Roberts is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last 14 games she's played dating back to last season.

Fairland now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Waverly, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Fairland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Athens on the 23rd. As for Waverly, they have also already played their next game, a 2-1 win against Eastern on the 23rd.
