Basketball Game Preview: Golden West Trailblazers vs. Hanford West Huskies

The Golden West Trailblazers are taking a road trip to challenge the Hanford West Huskies at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Golden West turned things around against Fowler two weeks ago. They breezed by the Redcats to the tune of 62-28.

Aniyah Venegas continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 11 rebounds. Her afternoon made it 15 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Jocelyn Contreras was another key player, putting up ten points.

Meanwhile, Hanford West hadn't done well against Nipomo recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Hanford West wrapped up 2024 with a 56-37 victory over Nipomo. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Huskies.

The win got Golden West back to even at 8-8. As for Hanford West, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Golden West came up short against Hanford West when the teams last played back in January, falling 40-34. Can Golden West avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
