The Arnold Marlins will face off against the Holmes County Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Arnold is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Arnold and Liberty County, and Arnold kept the tradition alive. The Marlins sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Bulldogs on Thursday.
Ryleigh Pittman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.
At the plate, Alexys Shewmaker was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Hayley Sexton, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Holmes County's offense. They fell just short of Branford by a score of 2-0 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Blue Devils have suffered since March 11, 2025.
Holmes County also got a good showing from Kinsley Parker, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the first time Parker hasn't allowed a single earned run since back in February.
On the hitting side, Holmes County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaycee Bowers, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Arnold pushed their record up to 10-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Holmes County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.
Holmes County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Arnold has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .453. It's a different story for Holmes County, though, as they've only averaged .348. Will they be able to contain Arnold's hitters?
Arnold couldn't quite get it done against Holmes County in their previous matchup back in February as they fell 7-2. Will the Marlins have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
