Softball Game Preview: Saxony Lutheran Crusaders vs. Central Tigers

The Saxony Lutheran Crusaders will venture away from home to square off against the Central Tigers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Saxony Lutheran is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering North County just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 1-0.

Saxony Lutheran saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ansley Palisch, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Mabrie Barke also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Central fell victim to Poplar Bluff and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 10-0 to the Mules, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Saxony Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Saxony Lutheran took their victory against Central when the teams last played back in September by a conclusive 17-1 score. Will the Crusaders repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
