Softball Game Preview: Peach County Trojans vs. Rutland Hurricanes

The Peach County Trojans will face off against the Rutland Hurricanes at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Northside hit Peach County with a four-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Trojans came up short against the Patriots, falling 11-1.

Shaniyah Gibson put in work no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off two hits. Gibson was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Gibson wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Saniya Martin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles.

Rutland kicked off their season on the road on Wednesday and hit a couple of potholes. They lost 15-0 to Northside. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Peach County took their win against Rutland when the teams last played back in August of 2024 by a conclusive 17-2 score. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hurricanes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
