Baseball Recap: Dirigo Gets the Win

Dirigo posted their closest win since May 30, 2025 on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Madison Bulldogs 4-3. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 1-0 victory the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2025.

Hudson Lufkin made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Colin Waugh was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Dirigo's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-7 when he doesn't). Caden Hutchinson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Dirigo hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.

Dirigo's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Madison, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

Coming up, Dirigo will take on Mount Abram at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Roadrunners will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Madison, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oak Hill at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
