Baseball Recap: St. Anne-Pacelli Comes Up Short

St. Anne-Pacelli managed to slip by Calvary Christian the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Vikings lost 12-5 to the Knights on Friday. The Vikings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 9-7.

St. Anne-Pacelli got a good showing from Nathan Boatner, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. That's the first time Boatner hasn't allowed a single earned run since back in March.

On the hitting side, Connor Zittrauer was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two runs. St. Anne-Pacelli is 6-3 when Zittrauer posts two or more runs, but 6-11 otherwise.

St. Anne-Pacelli has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-14 record this season. As for Calvary Christian, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-12.

Looking ahead, St. Anne-Pacelli will challenge Strong Rock Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings are facing the Patriots at the right time seeing as the Patriots are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Calvary Christian, they will square off against Southern Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
