Basketball Recap: Milly Rojas Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat El Diamante

Monache won the last time they faced El Diamante and things went their way on Thursday too. The Monache Marauders walked away with a 61-49 win over the El Diamante Miners. Given the Marauders' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Miners are ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Monache to victory, but perhaps none more so than Milly Rojas, who posted 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds. The contest was Rojas' eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelley Andrade, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards.

Monache smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Monache is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for El Diamante, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 14-8 record.

Monache didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-46 victory against Arroyo Grande on the 25th. El Diamante has also already played their next contest, a 65-37 defeat against Immanuel on the 25th.
