Legend dropped to 2-2 on Thursday, ending the team's eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell just short of the Erie Tigers by a score of 10-8. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Titans, who until this contest were averaging 3.5 runs allowed.
Ella Athey and Lucy Thompson did some serious damage despite the final result: Athey went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double, while Thompson went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That double marked the first that Athey has hit this season. Rylee Michalczyk was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.
As for Erie, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average this season.
On Erie's side, they gave Sophee Horovitz the start and clearly made the right call: she tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits.
On the hitting side, Erie let Braelen Heer and Sydnie Snook run wild. Heer went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Snook went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. What's more, Snook posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Young, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Legend didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 6-5 win against Valor Christian on the 21st. As for Erie, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 12-1 victory against Castle View on the 22nd.
