Preview: Laton Mustangs vs. Kings Christian Crusaders
Laton is 1-9 against Kings Christian since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Laton Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the Kings Christian Crusaders at 5:45 p.m. Hopefully Laton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
A well-balanced attack led Laton over Alpaugh in every quarter on their way to victory. Everything went Laton's way against Alpaugh as Laton made off with a 40-14 win. The win was just what Laton needed coming off of a 46-15 loss in their prior contest.
Laton found their leader in underclassman Gabriella Alvarado, who scored 14 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Alvarado is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last four games she's played. Evelyn Buttle was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven steals and five assists.
Meanwhile, Kings Christian strolled past Riverdale with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 48-31. The win made it back-to-back wins for Kings Christian.
Laton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-12 record this season. As for Kings Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5.
Laton was taken down by Kings Christian 46-15 in their previous meeting back in January. Can Laton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
