Basketball Game Preview: Alpaugh Buffalos vs. Laton Mustangs

Alpaugh hasn't had much luck against Laton recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Alpaugh Buffalos will face off against the Laton Mustangs at 5:45 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Alpaugh was beaten by Woodlake 58-23.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ashley Galindo, who posted five points along with five boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Alpaugh smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Laton). They blew past Maricopa 41-6 on Wednesday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Mustangs with their most commanding win of the season.

Laton's victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-12. As for Alpaugh, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

Things could have been worse for Alpaugh, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 34-19 loss to Laton in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can Alpaugh avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
