Soccer Game Preview: West Geauga vs. South

The West Geauga Wolverines will head out to square off against the South Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Geauga will be strutting in after a victory while South will be coming in after a loss.

West Geauga took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 5-1 margin over Riverside. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 5-0.

Meanwhile, South managed to keep up with Mayfield until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Rebels came up short against the Wildcats, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for South in their meetings with Mayfield: they've now lost three in a row.

The win got West Geauga back to even at 6-6-1. As for South, they now have a losing record of 6-7-1.

West Geauga took their victory against South when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 5-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
