Batavia had won three straight on the road, but on Thursday they bumped up to 6-20 to make it four. They had just enough and edged out the Newark Reds 3-1. This was payback for the Blue Devils, who suffered a 7-5 defeat the last time these two teams met.

As for Newark, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

For Newark's part, Cody Forjone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits. Forjone has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Newark saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keane Brady, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Coming up, Batavia will face off against Williamson at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Newark does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
