Basketball Recap: Torres Comes Up Short

Torres played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Sotomayor Wolves 41-14. The Toros were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wolves earlier this season, when they won 33-22.

Sotomayor's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Destiny Velasco, who posted 13 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Ashley Castillo, who put up 11 points and four steals.

Torres has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season. As for Sotomayor, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-4.

Torres didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-14 defeat against Maywood CES on the 27th. As for Sotomayor, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 53-26 loss against Marquez on the 27th.
