Softball Recap: Centennial Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Centennial's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They walked away with a 9-5 win over the Wilcox County Patriots. The victory was some much needed relief for the Knights as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Megan Bailey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in October of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning two runs and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Bailey wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Katherine Sotola, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Sotola has hit this season. Sophia De Oliveira was another, going 1-for-2 with two runs.

Centennial's record now sits at 3-4. As for Wilcox County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Centennial's road trip will continue as they head out to face First Presbyterian Day at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Wilcox County, they will venture away from home to square off against Westminster Christian Academy at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
