Baseball Recap: Terrell County Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Terrell County can bid farewell to their ten-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They came out on top against the Mitchell County Eagles by a score of 16-12. The high-scoring effort was just what the Greenwave needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Corderell Small was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing eight bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Terrell County is 2-1 when Small posts two or more stolen bases, but 0-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, Romarion Thomas was a standout: he scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-4. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Quintavious Huckaby, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Terrell County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
