Baseball Game Preview: Gainesville Red Elephants vs. Johns Creek Gladiators

For the second straight game, Gainesville will face off against Johns Creek. The Red Elephants will host the Gladiators at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gainesville has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight defeats, while Johns Creek will come in with four straight wins.

Things were looking good for Gainesville after they put the first runs on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Johns Creek by a score of 4-3.

Cohen Miller put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

Miller wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Graham, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Johns Creek pushed their record up to 18-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Gainesville, their loss dropped their record down to 12-15.
